John has lived in Leicester for 53 years, 10 of those in the Fosse area. In his day job he works to ensure the Environmental Regulations & Permits are not breached at a water company. John has also worked in HR and recruitment and brings those skills to help with the volunteers at Alice Hawkins Community Projects C.I.C. John has been volunteering at the foodbank for over 18 months and is currently company Volunteer Coordinator working closely with new and existing volunteers. John enjoys volunteering and giving something back to the local community.

Abi moved to Leicester in 1998 and has always been active in its vibrant creative scene. She currently works as digital product owner, designing products and experiences for service users - Her work involves UX, system, and process design alongside brand, marketing and customer propositions - all skills that she brings to the table. Her own personal experience with homelessness at 15 has spurred her on to empower others who are at a vulnerable point in their life exasperated by poverty . She is a co-founder and treasurer and can be found with her fingers in the many pies of our organisation, from starting the pop-up food bank to the many projects and activities that have developed since.

Lynn has lived in Leicester for 31 years, 18 of those in the Woodgate area. In her day job she looks after data protection and freedom of information at the city council, and brings those skills to help with the governance of Alice Hawkins Community Projects C.I.C. Lynn enjoys volunteering and is also a chair of governors at a local school and a cub scout leader. She is one of the founding members of the original foodbank and is currently company secretary and dabbles in fundraising when not updating policies.

Eve was born and raised in Guyana, and from the age of 20 has lived in the UK and then later France. She came back to the UK just before the covid pandemic started in 2020 and was one of the original group that started the food bank that year. She is angry that people are struggling so much that they need help to eat - she’s a socialist, and believes that people have a right to food, and that right is being abused when our government’s policies mean that some people can’t eat properly at the same time as paying their bills, or that food and energy costs so much, or that children go hungry too often. Being involved in the foodbank is one outlet for that anger - at least we can try to help a little with a weekly top-up.
