Providing Food Support in Our Area
Formerly known as Woodgate Community Food, our food bank was born during the Covid-19 crisis and is primarily for residents of Fosse and Westcotes wards, Leicester.
We are open on Saturdays from 10.30am to 12 noon, for users to access food and essential household items. You will need to register on your first collection, this means bringing some form of identification, ideally with a photo. You will also need to show proof of address, plus some indication of earnings, benefits or similar to show how you financially support yourself. We register people in groups as households, based on shopping needs, so please confirm clearly who lives with you and ages and if they are dependants on you. Children are counted as those under 16, over 16 will count as adult registrations. Children cannot register themselves and should not be collecting on behalf of an adult.
The foodbank is based in the Annexe at the Fosse Neighbourhood Centre and you may need to queue outside before you can be served. You will also need to bring your own bags, egg box (for eggs) and you should wear a face covering if you are unwell. Hand sanitiser is available on arrival or you can bring your own.
Please be mindful of others and kind, especially to all our volunteers who are not paid to operate this service. We do not tolerate any abuse or behaviour that could endanger either our volunteers or other users to the service.
We also offer a very limited delivery service for those who are unable to travel to the food bank due to mobility and other issues. Please enquire if this is required.
